Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a multi-site K&S team developing semiconductor assembly equipment. You will design, develop, document and test electro-mechanical subsystems integral to a high-performance semiconductor machine under development.

The role requires collaboration with Electrical and Software teams, prototype testing, and BOM creation to support both prototyping and production builds. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or robotics engineering is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document and test electro-mechanical subsystems.

  • Evaluate prototypes and document analyses and test results.
  • Coordinate integration of subsystems into the overall CAD model.
  • Prepare BOMs and support fabrication of prototypes and production units.

Job description

The candidate will be a member of a multi-site K&S team that develops and sustains semiconductor assembly equipment.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of mechanical subsystems that is part of a high-performance semiconductor assembly machine under development.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes, designs, and tests electro-mechanical systems for high-performance multi-axis robotic semiconductor manufacturing equipment and process equipment.
  • Under guidance of a senior engineer, performs analysis and calculations necessary to ensure designs meet requirements including performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
  • Evaluates prototype designs against requirements, performs testing, documents and analyses data and write reports.
  • Support fabrication/build of prototype and production systems
  • Work closely with Electrical Engineering and Software teams to achieve module performance
  • Helps to create Bill of Materials for the machine, as well as related accessories and kits.
  • Mange and coordinate the integration of multiple subsystems and modules into the overall CAD model of a large machine with >2,000 unique components
  • Leverage various software tools and lab equipment to collect data

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience requirements

  • Minimum 0-2 years of precision mechanical engineering design.
  • Capable of using 3D CAD solid modeling tools (such as NX or ProEngineer), Finite Element Modeling (Nastran or equivalent), and MS Office tools.
  • Ability to perform analysis related to thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform testing, write reports, and evaluate prototype designs against product requirements.
  • Ability to interpret requirements and Design tooling according to customer's specifications and requirements
  • Ability to perform machine trouble shooting and testing
  • Knowledge of materials and production methods.
  • Knowledge of low volume manufacturing methods and mechanical engineering standards including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis related to motion systems and mechanism designs.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum a bachelor's degree in mechanical or robotics engineering
