Job summary

Bally's Corporation in Shreveport, LA is seeking a Riverboat Technician to perform preventive maintenance, monitor power systems, and support the engineering team on the riverboat. The role requires firefighting and safety certifications, CPR/First Responder/AED, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds while working at various heights.

You will coordinate tasks with the Captain of the Watch and help ensure continuous operation.

Qualifications

• 21+ years of age required
• CPR, First Responder and AED certification required
• EOW Qualification Program completion
• Basic firefighting certification (USCG-approved or Shreveport Fire Dept)
• Proficiency with computers and record keeping
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to work at various heights and depths on riverboat

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and other work as directed by the EIC
• Maintain power to the riverboat via shore power or diesel generators and ensure auto-start capability
• Perform rounds to verify machinery and safety equipment, taking corrective action as needed
• Respond to maintenance calls during the watch and notify of malfunctions
• Maintain engine room watch log of significant activities
• Fulfill emergency response duties assigned to EOW
• Other duties as assigned; varying schedules incl. weekends and holidays
• Adhere to Bally's Attendance Policy

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Completes scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and other work assigned by the EIC.
• Maintain a continuous power supply to the riverboat through either the use of shore power or diesel generator sets. Ensure the main generators are ready to auto start and assume the electrical load on the electrical buss when the riverboat experiences a loss of shore power.
• Makes periodic rounds of the riverboat to verify that machinery and equipment are functioning properly. Specifically checks the condition of fire and safety equipment. Takes corrective action to remedy observed discrepancies.
• Answers and remedies maintenance calls received during the watch.
• Notifies the EIC of system malfunctions in accordance with Standing Orders.
• Maintains an engine room watch log of all significant activities during the watch.
• Fulfills emergency response duties assigned to the EOW in Station Bills.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to Bally's Attendance Policy.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. This includes all shifts, weekends and holiday periods.

Competencies:

• Coordinates scheduled engineering tasks with the Captain-Of-The-Watch.
• Directs the Riverboat Technician performing maintenance in the riverboat.
• Successfully completes EOW Qualification Program.
• Successfully completes an accredited course in basic firefighting. This requirement can be met by completing either (a) USCG-approved course or (b) training by the Shreveport Fire Department.
• Successfully completes CPR, First Responder, and Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) certification.
• Knowledge of computers and the ability to generate documents and keep accurate records.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• The employee must be able to work from various heights and depths in the riverboat environment.

Work Environment:

• The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with extreme noise conditions (protection provided).
• Must be able to hear and understand security radio transmissions during normal casino noise.
• Must be able to work in a smoking environment.

Target Salary Range:

• 21.63/ Hr
