infrastructure, including interfaces to Army enterprise services. The position performs daily

The employee coordinates outages, technical changes, and authorized support for Government-managed network security and communications equipment with the IT Supervisor, ISSM/Cybersecurity personnel, Army enterprise organizations, telecommunications providers, and customers.

This position is located on site in Hawthorne, NV.

As the Network Engineer 1 , here’s the work you’ll do:
  • Monitor LAN/WAN availability, performance, circuits, devices, and alerts; identify degrading trends, isolate faults, initiate support within 30 minutes of initial service loss, track outages through restoration, and support required notifications and updates to the PCO and ACO through authorized reporting channels.
  • Perform daily LAN administration and approved preventative and remedial maintenance; install, configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, routers, VLANs, wireless equipment, network interfaces, telecommunications equipment, fiber/copper cabling, racks, patch panels, and associated cable pathways.
  • Support network surveys, engineering plans, circuit and routing evaluations, upgrades, migrations, installations, and cutovers; perform acceptance testing under Government-approved plans and coordinate HWAD-to-enterprise connectivity and telecommunications activities with authorized stakeholders.
  • Maintain Government-standard network diagrams, rack elevations, cable/port records, IP and VLAN assignments, configuration backups, equipment inventories, maintenance records, and change documentation; provide technical inputs for required status reports and engineering implementation plans.
  • Follow HWAD change-control, security, access, and networthiness procedures; coordinate approved network changes and device connections; assist the ISSM with authorized COMSEC equipment support and Army enterprise security-stack visual/hands-on support without independently administering Government-managed controls.
  • Communicate network status, risks, outages, corrective actions, and resource needs to the IT Supervisor and stakeholders; maintain service tickets, assist with technical handoffs and user familiarization, and support emergency or mission-essential operations as assigned.
This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • The employee must be able to develop and maintain accurate network diagrams, cable and port records, IP/VLAN documentation, inventories, configuration backups, maintenance records, and technical procedures; support site surveys, engineering implementation plans, routing/circuit assessments, Government-approved acceptance testing, upgrades, and cutovers.
  • Must understand approved change management, networthiness, access controls, security procedures, and limits on contractor authority over Government-managed equipment. Familiarity with routers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption and COMSEC equipment, and Army enterprise security-stack support is preferred; controlled work must occur only when authorized and coordinated with the ISSM or responsible Government organization.
  • Must demonstrate sound technical judgment, analytical and problem-solving ability, organization, clear communication, and independent prioritization based on operational risk and mission needs. Must collaborate effectively with the IT Supervisor, Systems Administrator, Cybersecurity/IA personnel, Government representatives, telecommunications providers, vendors, and customers; safeguard-controlled information and promptly communicate significant outages and risks.
And if you have these qualifications:
