Job summary

Energy Transfer is seeking an Engineer for Midland Basin Reliability to enhance reliability of rotating equipment, compression assets, and facility systems. The role blends reliability engineering, data analytics, and process optimization to drive asset performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include leading compression performance programs, performing sizing and modeling, developing predictive insights, and mentoring field personnel across dispersed teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Engineering Discipline, Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant engineering experience; recent engineering graduates will be considered.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, compression systems, natural gas facilities, maintenance practices, and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of compressor performance analysis, compressor sizing, and compression system optimization.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic modeling, fluid flow, thermodynamics, and process engineering principles.
  • Ability to perform control valve sizing and equipment evaluations.
  • Experience with industrial historians and analytics platforms; DataPARC experience preferred.
  • Programming experience with Python preferred; experience with SQL, Power BI, VBA, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Previous experience in Natural Gas treating, fractionation, or processing industry.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Engineering Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Division focal point for asset management and reliability programs related to rotating equipment and compression systems.
  • Lead and support Compression Performance, Equipment Reliability, Engine Health, and Preventive Maintenance programs, including development of standards, procedures, benchmarks, and best practices.
  • Perform compressor performance testing, modeling, sizing, and optimization studies to improve reliability, capacity, efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Monitor equipment and system performance data, establish KPI trends, develop predictive insights, and provide technical solutions to improve reliability.
  • Lead and facilitate Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and failure predictability.
  • Administer and develop the DataPARC historian and analytics platform, including database management, data validation, dashboard development, reporting, user support, and training.
  • Develop data analytics, automated reporting, and engineering applications using Python or similar programming tools to support asset performance and predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis of gathering, transmission, compression, and process piping systems to identify constraints and optimize performance.
  • Perform control valve sizing, equipment evaluations, flow assurance reviews, and debottlenecking studies in support of operations and capital projects.
  • Analyze compressor and process data to identify operational, mechanical, and process limitations and recommend performance improvements.
  • Oversee engine process control systems, engine mapping programs, and performance optimization tools for reciprocating engines and compressors.
  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting complex equipment issues and evaluating new technologies related to reliability, condition monitoring, automation, and predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Automation, and System Planning groups to develop projects that meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and sound engineering practices.
  • Support and mentor field personnel through training, troubleshooting, and development of consistent reliability and data management processes.

Position Summary

Responsible for improving the reliability, availability, and performance of rotating equipment, compression assets, and facility systems. This role combines reliability engineering, compressor performance, data analytics, DataPARC administration, hydraulic modeling, process optimization, and automation to drive asset performance and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working Conditions
  • Normal office working conditions or at theproject site.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Overnight travel is required when necessary to manage projects.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settingsmay include exposure to various materials and chemicals,extreme temperature conditions, and loud machinery and require appropriate personal protective equipment
