Job summary

Averro seeks a Senior Engineer for a nuclear instrumentation manufacturer in upstate New York. You will apply engineering expertise in sensor design, specification development, and qualification testing to support regulated manufacturing environments.

The role focuses on writing specifications, planning seismic and environmental qualification tests, and preparing Class 1E qualification documentation while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to new product development.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of electrical, mechanical, physics, nuclear, or ceramic engineering experience in regulated manufacturing.
• Advanced technical writing and mechanical design (GD&T); electrical testing and qualification testing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Write and verify specifications for materials, parts, and processes (machining, welding, brazing, ceramic-to-metal sealing)
• Plan and execute qualification testing (seismic, LOCA, environmental) to IEEE 323/344
• Prepare technical reports and own sections of Class 1E qualification packages
• Manage engineering change notices and validation documentation with cross-functional teams
• Support new product development and mentor junior engineers

Essential Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology; U.S. citizenship required

Bonus Qualifications

• Nuclear Navy, aerospace sensor, or medical device background
• Class 1E, NQA-1, or detector design (ionization chambers) experience
