Job summary

Howell Instruments Inc. in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Senior Lead Software Verification Engineer to head verification activities for safety-critical avionics under DO-178C DAL A. The role focuses on planning, designing, developing, executing and reporting verification for DAL A projects.

The ideal candidate will mentor a team, perform requirements-based testing, and support certification audits, with deep expertise in verification processes and MC/DC coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• 8 years in software verification, software test, or QA in safety-critical environments; 5 years on DO-178B/C projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading software verification efforts for at least one DO-178C DAL A or DAL B certification program.
• Experience developing requirements-based tests from software requirements.
• Experience in structural coverage analysis, including MC/DC coverage.
• Experience generating and reviewing certification evidence and compliance data.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experiencedSenior Software Verification Engineerto lead software verification activities for safety-critical avionics systems developed in accordance withDO-178C. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, executing, and reporting software verification activities forDesign Assurance Level (DAL) Aprojects.

This role requires deep expertise in software verification processes, structural coverage analysis, requirements-based testing, certification support, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical lead for software verification efforts and will mentor and develop a team of software test engineers to achieve compliance with the highest levels of aviation software assurance.
