JOB SUMMARY
ONEOK is seeking an Engineer IV in Mont Belvieu, TX, who will be responsible for leading project development activities supporting midstream assets and growth opportunities along the Gulf Coast. This role will focus on front-end project development across the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, scope development, project estimating, risk identification, strategic planning, stakeholder alignment, reporting, and technical support for Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) and related facilities. This position will also support strategic planning efforts and help ensure projects are positioned for successful execution.
The Engineer IV will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, construction, project management, commercial, and other cross-functional teams to develop and advance complex projects safely and effectively. The ideal candidate will bring proven project development experience, strong project estimating and planning capabilities, an understanding of project risk and organizational priorities, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders while providing technical guidance during project definition and evaluation. Midstream industry experience is preferred to help the selected candidate quickly learn operations and contribute to active development initiatives, though candidates with strong engineering, planning, or closely related project development backgrounds may also offer transferable experience.
This position is best suited for a candidate with approximately 5 to 10 years of relevant engineering, project development, operations, construction, or project management experience, including demonstrated success leading front-end project development activities for pipeline systems, processing or storage facilities, measurement and regulation assets, or other midstream infrastructure. Candidates should possess strong project estimating, risk assessment, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with a proven ability to develop technically sound recommendations that support business objectives and long-term asset strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to anticipate challenges, proactively develop solutions, influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, drive consistency in project development processes, transfer knowledge to build organizational capability, and effectively communicate project risks, costs, and opportunities to stakeholders and leadership. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
This role is based in Mont Belvieu, TX, and follows a hybrid schedule, with remote work available on Fridays and a 4-9-4 schedule option. Travel of approximately 10-15% is expected to support projects throughout the Gulf Coast region.

Performs specialized engineering and/or project management duties related to one or more functional areas that may include: pipeline system planning and analysis, gathering system operation; gas and liquids measurement, gas analysis, and measurement station design; processing and/or storage facility operation; and/or estimating, designing, and coordinating construction projects.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Direct, perform, coordinate and/or approve engineering and/or project management activities related to design, procurement, construction, or optimization of company assets including but not limited to:
Provide technical and/or engineering assistance on matters including but not limited to:
Direct, perform and review and/or approve project management activities including but not limited to:
Review work by engineers regarding equipment efficiencies, hydraulic calculations, valve and pipe sizing and gas flow analysis.
Research, analyze, prepare and/or approve information including but not limited to:
Oversee analysis and evaluation of various pipeline systems and review recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation. Act as a subject matter expert to the organization for various engineering activities; mentor less experienced engineers
Evaluate proposed projects by conducting load studies
Review and create standard drawings for various measurement system designs and make recommendations for improvements related to station capacity and operating costs, to increase accuracy of measurement system and downstream reporting systems
Analyze and perform economic analysis related to potential new projects, including but not limited to operational cost estimates, determining equipment efficiencies, and needed enhancements and conducting studies for potential acquisitions
Recommend new processes and formulate new ideas; take lead role during implementation of new processes
Anticipate changes in work demands and identify assignments or training to meet those demands.
Oversee utilization of manpower and equipment resources
Assess, schedule, and prioritize projects on customer needs and value to the organization
May have oversight of employees engaged in field operations, construction and/or project management function
Education
Work Experience
Experience and training related to:
Experience and knowledge of engineering design and criteria for natural gas and/or NGLs in pipeline systems
Experience at this level is typically attained with ten or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management
Experience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths, exhibiting a positive example and influence that leads to employee, project, and stakeholder successes
Experience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.
Experience researching and preparing project materials and design specifications, contracts, agreements, budgets, engineering studies, and other relevant reports, forms, and correspondence
Experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and determining appropriate action/response
Experience with and knowledge of pipelines or hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenance
Experience with material failure and structural analysis and thorough knowledge of industry standards and governmental regulations
Experience reading and interpreting governmental regulations, blueprints, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, load studies, and other relevant reports and correspondence
Experience reviewing and approving complex engineering drawings and material

$133,000.00 - $199,000.00
