Job summary

JT4, LLC is seeking a mid to senior level engineer to support radar testing tasks within our research and development groups. Responsibilities include radar signal processing, array concepts, and coding in MATLAB and Python to analyze radar returns.

Candidates should have an ABET-accredited engineering degree and 4–8+ years of experience, strong communication, and leadership skills. Occasional travel to remote sites and compliance with government security requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with 8+ years of related experience, or an MS with 6+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
• Strong knowledge of radar concepts and signal processing for phased arrays and ISAR.
• Ability to apply latest engineering developments to solve problems in the specialty area.

Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

The Engineer will work primarily within research and development engineering groups with responsibility for a wide variety of tasks. The primary tasking will be a variety of testing tasks using radars. We are looking for engineers with mid to senior-level skill sets who work well in both theoretical and practical domains as part of an iterative process to create innovative solutions for a multitude of relevant domain challenges as partially described below.

• Basic radar signal processing understanding (including phased array and ISAR processing)
• Advanced understanding of all components of the radar range equation
• Basic understanding of electromagnetic wave propagation and interaction.
• Write Code (Matlab, Python, etc.) to analyze and assess specific conditions in radar returns.
• Articulate, concise, detail-oriented, and rigorous.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Major or Minor in EE, Physics, or Statistics

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight (8) years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in Engineering and a minimum of six (6) years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four (4) years of related engineering experience are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:

• Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Well-developed leadership skills
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
