Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Region 1 is seeking an Engineer Intern Applicant – Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects and programs. This role may lead to progression through the Engineering job series and requires eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Positions are located in Districts 04, 05, 08, and 58 across several parishes, reporting to an Engineer Supervisor.
District 04: Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, De Soto, Red River, Bienville
District 05: Lincoln, Ouachita, Union, Morehouse, West Carroll, East Carroll, Madison, Richland, Jackson
District 08: Rapides, Avoyelles, Vernon, Sabine, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant
District 58: Franklin, Caldwell, La Salle, Catahoula, Concordia, Tensas

DOTD is seeking an Engineer Intern Applicant – Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects and programs. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.
No prior engineering experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.
Positions are located in the above-listed Parishes, and reports to Engineer Supervisor.
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Career Progression: This Position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, or Engineer Intern 2.
Engineer Intern Applicant - $24.04 hourly / $1,923.20 Biweekly - Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.66 hourly / $2,692.80 Biweekly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.02 hourly / $2,881.60 Biweekly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
This position may be filled as a job appointment or probational appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months. If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probational appointment in the future.
