The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineer Intern Applicant – Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects statewide. Training is provided, with career progression through the Engineering job series and supervision by Bridge Inspection Engineers.
This role reports to Engineer 7/Bridge Inspection Engineer. Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate is required.

DOTD is seeking an Engineer Intern Applicant - Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects and programs through projects and programs. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.
No prior engineering experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.
Positions are located Statewide, and report to Engineer 7/ Bridge Inspection Engineer.
While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information
Career Progression: This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, or Engineer Intern 2.
Include standardized pay table — unchanged, consistent across postings
Engineer Intern Applicant – $1,923.20 biweekly
Engineer Intern 1 – $2,115.20 biweekly
Engineer Intern 2 – $2,263.20 biweekly
This position may be filled as a job appointment or probational appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months. If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probational appointment in the future.
Applications will be accepted from applicants who are within 90 days of graduation. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon verification and confirmation that the applicant has received a qualifying degree. If selected, the applicant will be eligible to begin work the day after graduation. The selected candidate will be required to submit an official transcript confirming graduation within 60 days of hire.
