Job summary

Stanley Consultants is an award-winning global engineering firm seeking an Engineer-In-Training for Transportation Design in Chicago, IL. You will gain hands-on experience on highway projects, including roadway studies, drainage, and utilities, under the mentorship of senior engineers.

You will assist with plan development, geometry, earthwork, 3D roadway modeling, quantities, specifications, and coordination across disciplines. This is an onsite, entry-level opportunity with growth potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • EI T registration required or obtainable within 3 months of hire
  • 0–2 years civil engineering experience, intern/co-op preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk Civil3D, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work onsite with potential remote elements based on firm needs

If this describes you, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Engineer-In-Training. If selected you will gain meaningful engineering experience on highway projects including roadway studies and design, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, project scheduling, and large, complex highway corridors.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Collaborate with and learn from experienced Professional Engineers and be mentored by industry leaders in transportation.
  • Support experienced engineers on transportation projects, including plan development for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects, including horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordination.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Engineer Intern (EIT) registration required, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • 0-2 years of civil engineering experience, prior relatable internship/co-op experience preferred.
  • Proven communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving client, project, and industry needs.
  • Experience with or capable to learn Bentley OpenRoads Designer and Autodesk Civil3D.
  • Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work remotely based on business operations and the needs of the firm.
  • Proven strong work ethic and a collaborative team player.

$72,300 - $90,750 a year

(Salary range for IL location)
