Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission design projects. The role may be based out of Raleigh, NC, with other possible locations in Florida.

The position requires a BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, 4–6 years of overhead transmission design experience, and proficiency with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD, and Microsoft Office. Travel up to 10% and a valid driver's license are expected.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• 4–6 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Must possess valid driver's license. Travel up to 10%.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus as an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer on our Transmission Design team. In this role you'll be designing and creating construction drawings for overhead transmission design projects. This position may be based out of the following locations: Lake Mary/Orlando, FL, Palm Beach, FL or Raleigh, NC

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, perform foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school
• 4-6 years of experience in overhead transmission design
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office product applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, having high attention to detail.
• Great communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Great computer skills.
• PE license is a plus
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Must possess valid driver's license
