Summary of Position Functions

The Engineer II - Controls will quickly gain an understanding and working knowledge of Veregy's Digital Service and Building Automation offerings. The individual will utilize this understanding to manage the development, design, implementation, and optimization of our digital services including various maintenance programs, energy analytics, and building automation systems. The individual will take ownership for the timely delivery energy optimization services for building automation systems, project implementation of digital service contracts, and management of associated software services. The position includes oversight of engineering support, creating, and maintaining project schedules, creating project estimates, direct customer interaction, periodic owner training sessions, progress reporting, contract management, and project budget management. Position is remote within a couple of hours of the regional office, travel to job sites is required.

Essential Position Functions

  • Assist engineering and project teams with design, programming, and commissioning of building automation systems
  • Write and optimize building automation control sequences to reduce energy consumption and increase facility efficiency
  • Create design and construction documents as they relate to building automation systems and other Veregy technology products
  • Troubleshoot low voltage circuitry in the field and verify functional requirements are met
  • Participate in project development and cost estimation for various digital services and building automation system offerings.
  • Assist with and manage building automation or digital service focused projects by leading progress meetings, supervising subcontractors, ordering material, and managing budgets.
  • Create and manage project implementation schedules to deliver projects on time.
  • Communicate with customers to deliver a customer-driven, quality product.
  • Communicate with other Veregy departments to verify project expectations and execution standards are met.
  • Manage project budgets and report progress.
  • Develop close-out or system documentation for the customer.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, or Software from four-year college of university or three + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years in building automation system design, implementation, and project management preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with building automation system project development or estimating preferred.
  • Either Distech, Honeywell, or Reliable Controls experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to collaborate with other engineers or clients to methodically solve complex problems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to innovate with new processes and energy efficient systems.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
