Job summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. in Liberty, North Carolina, is seeking an Engineer to support production preparation and new model launches for EV battery manufacturing equipment.

You will coordinate installation, vendor activity, and commissioning across multiple teams to ensure on-schedule delivery. The role requires 2+ years in capital projects, CAD review experience, and willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field, or 3+ years of equivalent experience in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years in Production Preparation, Manufacturing, or Construction with a focus on executing high production volume capital projects from initial planning to start production.
  • Experience leading design of Mass Production equipment with vendors from design specifications and concept design all the way to installation/commissioning equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing large capital projects over $500k, including: Creating and maintaining project schedules.
  • Tracking milestones from project creation to completion
  • Experience in creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment, including: Takt time studies Line balancing Cycle time reduction
  • Experience reviewing CAD drawings, Markups, and submittals.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15%, both domestically and internationally, based on business need.
  • Added bonus if you have Completion of JKK Completion of TBP Panel PLC programming experience Production Automation experience Battery Manufacturing experience with an OEM Toyota Major Model change experience CAD drawing experience including P&ID, Layouts, Elevations
  • Toyota Quality Problem Solving experience Toyota Production Engineering experience including TPS, Kaizen, and Takt time changes.

Responsibilities

  • In alignment with the master plan of each line, develop an installation & trials schedule for your shop that includes all critical milestones i.e. vendor buy off, shipping, commissioning, production/maintenance training & confirmation trials
  • Prepare and present a bid pack for equipment installed to general contractors.
  • Review bids and award work considering factors like cost, manpower, skill and commitment to meet schedule
  • Lead or support construction / battery equipment installation including schedule development, contractors and vendor coordination, safety audits and address day to day challenges
  • Provide frequent updates regarding the status of the project to senior management level update on overall project status, safety, schedule and critical activities in daily status check meeting
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of the project are planned and executed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Engage Production, Quality and Maintenance teams to get their perspective on relevant issues and develop one voice with all stakeholders
  • Develop reflections documents from events that caused delays in project, safety hazards etc. and share with cross functional teams to learn and improve collectively as a team

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Battery Production Engineering department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to work in the implementation team. This position's main responsibility is production preparation and new model launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment. This position will be located at TBMNC in Liberty, North Carolina, and report to an Engineering Manager for EV Cell Manufacturing.

What you’ll be doing
