Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology in Chandler, AZ, seeks an Engineer II to support manufacturing operations by developing process documentation, optimizing assembly workflows, and ensuring product quality and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, train production staff, and participate in cost estimations and capital planning to deliver efficient, safe, and high-quality production outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/BA in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing or related field with 2 years of experience; or AA with >5 years manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles and semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Experience with electronic Work Instruction software and ERP systems.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills; ability to train and lead small teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create Manufacturing-ready documentation such as SOEs and Assembly Process Workflows.
  • Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the Manufacturing Engineer portion of builds.
  • Prepare/modify work instructions, BOM structures, and training curricula.
  • Ensure cross-functional coordination and effective communication.
  • Attend customer meetings and discuss best practices to streamline builds.
  • Inspect systems and ensure conformance to design and safety standards.
  • Support cost estimations and capital project planning for new equipment.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Orders and implement improvements.
  • Attend to other duties as required.

UCT is looking for a talented Engineer II to join us in Chandler, AZ!

The Engineer II supports manufacturing operations by developing process documentation, optimizing assembly workflows, and ensuring product quality and compliance. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams and customers to streamline build procedures, resolve technical issues, and implement engineering changes. It provides training, drives continuous improvement, and contributes to cost estimation and capital planning. The Engineer II plays a key role in delivering efficient, safe, and high-quality production outcomes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Requires a broad knowledge of Manufacturing Practices, Assembly Prints, Bill of Materials to be able to create Manufacturing ready documentation such as S.O.E.’s (Sequence of Events) and Assembly Process Workflow.
  • Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the Manufacturing Engineer portion of the system build.
  • Prepares and/or modifies work instructions, BOM structures, and training curriculum.
  • Ensures proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.
  • Requires contact with Customers, vendor representatives. Attends and participates in Customer meetings.
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, customers, and others to discuss best practices in an effort to streamline build processes and procedures.
  • Inspects completed systems; partners with Manufacturing and Quality organizations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Supports project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Investigates customer or internal issues determines the nature and extent of the problem and recommends corrective actions.
  • Assists in cost estimations and development of capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
  • Evaluates and process Engineering Change Orders.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Lean Manufacturing Principles, Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic Work Instruction software is a plus (i.e., Sequence).
  • ERP System Software.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, emphasis in Excel.
  • Prior experience leading small teams to achieve project success.
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work alone or in a team environment.

Educational/Certification Requirement

  • Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field preferred with 2 years of experience in related manufacturing/ production position; or Associate of Arts (AA) in a technical field with more than 5 years of manufacturing experience.

Experience Requirement

  • Work Experience: 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment.
