Job summary

UCT in Chandler, AZ is seeking an Engineer II to support manufacturing through process documentation, workflow optimization, and quality assurance. Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing or similar; AA with 5+ years manufacturing experience acceptable.
  • 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing.Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environments.
  • Willingness to work in manufacturing/clean room settings, with possible accommodations.
  • Ability to operate in manufacturing, clean room and/or office environments.

Responsibilities

  • Create Manufacturing ready documentation such as SOEs and Assembly Process Workflow.
  • Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the Manufacturing Engineer portion of the system build.
  • Prepare/modify work instructions, BOM structures, and training curriculum.
  • Ensure coordination and effective communication on projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Interact with customers and vendor representatives; attend customer meetings as needed.
  • Discuss best practices with engineers and others to streamline build processes.
  • Inspect completed systems; ensure conformance to design, equipment specs, and safety standards.
  • Support project production efforts to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Investigate issues and recommend corrective actions; assist in cost estimates and capital planning.
  • Evaluate and process Engineering Change Orders.

The Engineer II supports manufacturing operations by developing process documentation, optimizing assembly workflows, and ensuring product quality and compliance. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams and customers to streamline build procedures, resolve technical issues, and implement engineering changes. It provides training, drives continuous improvement, and contributes to cost estimation and capital planning. The Engineer II plays a key role in delivering efficient, safe, and high-quality production outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Requires a broad knowledge of Manufacturing Practices, Assembly Prints, Bill of Materials to be able to create Manufacturing ready documentation such as S.O.E.'s (Sequence of Events) and Assembly Process Workflow.
  • Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the Manufacturing Engineer portion of the system build.
  • Prepares and/or modifies work instructions, BOM structures, and training curriculum.
  • Ensures proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.
  • Requires contact with Customers, vendor representatives. Attends and participates in Customer meetings.
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, customers, and others to discuss best practices in an effort to streamline build processes and procedures.
  • Inspects completed systems; partners with Manufacturing and Quality organizations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Supports project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Investigates customer or internal issues determines the nature and extent of the problem and recommends corrective actions.
  • Assists in cost estimations and development of capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
  • Evaluates and process Engineering Change Orders.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Attendance is an essential duty of this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic Work Instruction software is a plus (i.e., Sequence).
  • ERP System Software.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, emphasis in Excel.
  • Prior experience leading small teams to achieve project success.
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work alone or in a team environment.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field preferred with 2 years of experience in related manufacturing/ production position; or Associate of Arts (AA) in a technical field with more than 5 years of manufacturing experience.

Experience Requirement:

  • Work Experience:5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment.
