We are currently seeking a Lab Equipment Engineer

in Lake County, IL. This is a 6-month contract to start, with potential overtime as needed.

Job Details:

• Pay: $42–45/hr
• Duration: 6-month contract to start
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Work Environment: Onsite, with potential local travel between nearby sites

About the Role:

This role supports laboratory operations by installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting analytical laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, and mass spectrometry systems. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience servicing scientific equipment, performing preventive maintenance, coordinating repairs, and documenting service activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair analytical laboratory instruments.
• Troubleshoot instrument performance issues and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate equipment repairs and service needs with vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Document maintenance activities, review technical reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support equipment qualification, train colleagues on instrument maintenance, and ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with analytical laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with HPLC/UPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, spectrophotometers, or other chromatography systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance skills.
• Excellent technical documentation, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
