Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering required or equivalent.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client communication and participate in client and public meetings as needed.
  • Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, design documents, studies, permits, and construction documents using engineering software.
  • Review construction sites to monitor project progress and support project requirements in accordance with contract documents.
  • Take responsibility for assigned quality-control activities and ensure work complies with applicable project and practice quality standards.
  • Define technical problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Coordinate with project managers and practice leaders regarding schedules, budgets, resource needs, and project requirements.
  • Manage time effectively to complete assignments within established project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in professional-development activities, certifications, industry involvement, and continuing education opportunities.

Position Overview

Three Notch Group is seeking an Engineer II to support the delivery of high-quality, constructable engineering and design documents that meet project objectives and client expectations. Working under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers, this role contributes to project planning, design, documentation, quality control, client communication, and field activities while exercising increasing professional judgment and technical independence.


The ideal candidate has developed a strong engineering foundation and is ready to take on greater project responsibilities while continuing to expand technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and progress toward Professional Engineer licensure.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with client communication and participate in client and public meetings as needed.
  • Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, design documents, studies, permits, and construction documents using engineering software and design tools.
  • Review construction sites to monitor project progress and support project requirements in accordance with contract documents.
  • Take responsibility for assigned quality-control activities and ensure work complies with applicable project and practice quality standards.
  • Define technical problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret engineering documents, technical procedures, professional publications, and governmental regulations.
  • Assist in the development of construction cost estimates and quantity calculations for various projects.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment while working with increasing independence under the supervision of licensed engineers.
  • Prepare design computations, technical documentation, and project deliverables with growing proficiency and responsibility.
  • Coordinate with project managers and practice leaders regarding schedules, budgets, resource needs, and project requirements.
  • Manage time effectively to complete assignments within established project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in professional-development activities, certifications, industry involvement, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Actively pursue Professional Engineer licensure and perform other duties as assigned.

Success in this role means consistently producing accurate, constructable, and technically sound engineering work while meeting quality, budget, and schedule expectations. The Engineer II will communicate effectively with project teams and clients, contribute to problem-solving efforts, and demonstrate growing technical independence and accountability.


The successful candidate will expand technical expertise, strengthen project-delivery skills, support positive client experiences, and continue progressing toward professional licensure while contributing to the growth and success of the practice.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with two to five years of experience, or a master’s degree/MBA with at least one year of related experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads, or related engineering design software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, technical standards, and professional judgment to project assignments.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and perform office and field-related duties as required.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or more, work extended hours when needed, and travel overnight occasionally.
