Job summary

Entergy seeks an Engineer I through Sr to perform planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction activities related to substation projects. The role supports a range of duties across grid design, reliability and asset management.

Assignments may be in Beaumont, TX, Conroe, TX or Metairie, LA, with responsibilities spanning planning, operations, and restoration. A bachelor’s in engineering is required; PE may be considered for certain levels; 0–6 years of

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed engineering analysis in substation areas including planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction.
• Provides engineering support to field supervisors and assists with storm/restoration efforts while complying with industry standards (NERC, SERC).

Job Summary/Purpose

• Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in Substation-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations. Uses engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services. Applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies. Provides engineering and technical support to Area Substation Supervisors in the group’s day to day performance of diagnostic and preventive maintenance tasks Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required. Works with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum education required of the position Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered. Substation relay protection experience preferred
• Minimum experience required of the position Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of applicable engineering experience Engineer II: at least 2 - 4 years of applicable engineering experience Engineer III: at least 4 - 6 years of applicable engineering experience Sr Engineer: at least 6 years of applicable engineering experience
