Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Transportation Engineer for our Tennessee roadway team in Nashville. You will design and analyze highway facilities, including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements, working with multiple disciplines to develop practical solutions.

The role targets entry-level roadway design (0–2 years) with a BS in Civil Engineering and an Engineer Intern (E.I.) license in TN or the ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of roadway design experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in TN or able to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets.
• Design temporary traffic control plans.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Support preparation of design documentation and specifications packages.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to solve design challenges.

Essential Functions

• Support preparation of design documentation
• Support preparation of specifications packages
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills & Experience

• Zero (0) to t wo (2) years of experience inroadway design
• Working knowledge of basicroadway designprincipals
• Bachelor of Science inCivil Engineering or related field
• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in TN or ability to obtain within six (6) months

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Roadway widening or new alignment design
• Sidewalk or shared use path design
• Previous internship experience
