Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Transportation Engineer in Columbia, South Carolina to design and analyze transportation facilities, including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential duties include creating plans and profiles, detailing, traffic control planning, quantity calculations, and coordinating with other disciplines. Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of roadway design experience and a BS in Civil Engineering.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of roadway design experience
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principles
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field

Job description

RK&K is currently hiring Transportation Engineers to our team in Columbia, South Carolina. As a Highway/Roadway Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include design and analysis of transportation facilities. Projects will include, but not be limited to new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential Function

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
• Design temporary traffic control plans
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
• Support preparation of design documentation
• Support preparation of specifications packages
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills And Experience

• Zero (0) to Two (2) years of experience in roadway design
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Roadway widening or new alignment design
• Innovative intersection design
• Sidewalk or shared use path design
