Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Transportation Engineer in Fairfax, VA. You will work as a Highway/Roadway Engineer designing and analyzing transportation facilities including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential duties include designing alignments, preparing plan/profile/cross sections, traffic control plans, quantities and cost estimates, and supporting design documents and specifications. Collaboration with other disciplines is key.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in roadway design.
• E.I. license in VA or ability to obtain within six months.
• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare plan, profile, cross sections, and detail sheets.
• Design temporary traffic control plans.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Support preparation of design documentation and specifications.

Required Skills & Experience

• Two (2)+ years of experience in roadway design


• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals


• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field


• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in VA or ability to obtain within six (6) months

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Roadway widening or new alignment design


• Sidewalk or shared use path design


• Previous internship experience

Salary range $40.00-$44.00 per hour - Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
