Job summary

Dynamic-Metals in Dayton, OH, seeks an experienced Heat Treat Technician to support manufacturing processes and improve existing products. You will handle oven operations, calibrations, and documentation while training new staff and ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role requires knowledge of heat treatment of metal alloys (preferably vacuum annealing and aluminum) and auditing procedures, along with AS9100 compliance.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with heat treatment of metal alloys, preferably vacuum annealing and aluminum heat treatment.
  • Experience with audit preparation, execution, and closure.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to stand and operate machinery for long shifts.
  • Ability to create “recipes” for new products conforming to required specifications.
  • Self-motivation and time management with minimal supervision.
  • Versatility in a wide range of manufacturing operations.
  • AS9100 quality compliance understanding and commitment.
  • Pyrometry certification (AMS 2750).
  • Experience with performing or reviewing SAT/TUSs.
  • High School diploma or equivalent or engineering exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Heat Treat department functions and certifications.
  • Create fixed process work Instructions (WIs) and submit for customer approval.
  • Retain all documentation per QMS.
  • Train new staff on heat treat ovens and processes.
  • Operate Heat Treat ovens and select proper programs per material specs.
  • Verify initial product quality checks and complete processing.
  • Update work orders and inspection sheets after tasks.
  • Use measuring tools per routers and blueprints.
  • Prepare parts for inspection.
  • Lift and move parts as required; demonstrate safety.
  • Prepare for audits and close audit findings.
  • Maintain equipment and clean work area.
  • Assist other departments as needed.

Full Time DAYTON, OH, US

Support manufacturing processes and continue improvement of existing products. Able to perform all job functions in the Heat Treat area and assist in various departments during oven downtime. Maintain quality and safety standards; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies.

  • Maintain the Heat Treat department functions and certifications.
  • Create fixed process work Instructions (WIs) and submit them to customers for approval.
  • Retain all documentation for Heat Treat processes and procedures in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Train new staff inoperating, loading, and unloading the Heat Treat Ovens/Freezers.
  • As needed, operating the Heat Treat Ovens by loading parts in/out of the appropriate oven, selecting the correct program in accordance with the parts’ material/thickness, per the Heat Treat Procedure Workbook.
  • Verify initial product quality checks and complete all processing operations.
  • Update related paperwork (work orders and in-process inspection sheets) upon completion of tasks.
  • Use required machinery and hand/measuring tools in accordance with routers and blueprints as needed.
  • Prepare parts for inspection.
  • Lift required objects with or without assistance, turn, load/unload required objects.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Prepare for 3 rd party and customer audits, execute and close audits.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain current, overall, and job specific training and requirements.
  • Assist 3 rd party source for SAT and TUS, review and approve results and certs.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safe Practice Guidelines / Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses with side shields as required.
  • Steel toed/metatarsal safety shoes as required.
  • Gloves as required.
  • Earplugs as required.
  • Welding hood, jacket, face shield, and/or gloves as required.
  • Fire Retardant (FR) clothing as required.
  • N-95 mask or respirator as required.
  • Seat belts required on all forklifts.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
