American Electric Power is hiring an Engineer/Engineering Technologist Associate SG6 for our New Albany, Ohio site. This entry-level role supports engineering activities in transmission SCADA, focusing on RTU configuration, alarm settings, and SCADA compliance under supervision.

Strong problem-solving and teamwork are essential as you grow technical proficiency. You’ll work closely with supervisors to apply ABET-accredited engineering knowledge, and you’ll be encouraged to pursue PE licensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• FE exam/ Fundamentals of Engineering encouraged for PE licensure.
• Electrical engineering focus preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify issues with processes and tools and propose solutions; support senior staff.
• Complete RPA with limited supervision, including legacy aspects.
• Complete complex RTU configurations for greenfield/brownfield projects.
• Expand communication technology competency to legacy apps (Async, Sync, AEP).
• Support SCADA compliance items and alarm/I/O settings (2411).
• Read drawings/schematics used in Electrical Engineering and other disciplines.

Able to complete complex RPA with both new and legacy aspects.* Completes RPA with limited supervision. Able to complete complex RTU configuration with both new and legacy aspects. Completes configuration with limited supervision. Beginning to expand communication technology competency to include legacy applications (Async, Sync, AEP, etc) Able to support stakeholders with common SCADA related issues.* Able to complete alarm and basic I/O 2411 settings for both greenfield and brownfield projects with limited supervision. Implements standards in appropriate measures with limited guidance from higher-level team members.* Assists higher level team members with overall SCADA compliance items.* Experience in reading drawings/schematics used in Electrical Engineering and other disciplines. **Technical Expertise**: Possesses advanced knowledge and performs varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analyses. Understands interrelationship between systems and component equipment. Analyzes and recommends enhancements to business processes.**Leadership and Guidance**: Coordinates work activities of others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to perform routine engineering work. Performs routine engineering activity independently. Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees.
