Job summary

Southwire Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer I in a structured engineering environment. The role focuses on developing foundational technical knowledge, performing routine tasks, and supporting product development with adherence to standards.

You will design electrical layouts, analyze data, and communicate findings to project teams while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education is a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of schematic capture, PCB design, and test equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine engineering tasks and develop foundational technical knowledge under supervision.
  • Develop electrical designs, schematics, and system layouts per standards and project needs.
  • Analyze data and test results to support decisions and document findings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Prepare progress reports and technical summaries for stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot circuit or system issues and escalate when needed.

Job Summary

The Engineer, Electrical I performs routine engineering assignments while developing foundational technical knowledge and professional competence. Uses established procedures and standard engineering principles to solve routine or well-defined problems. Receives regular instruction, guidance, and direction from senior engineers or manager. Builds familiarity with organizational systems, internal processes, and customer requirements through structured work assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uses foundational knowledge of engineering tools, design practices, and workflow procedures by completing structured assignments independently with guided supervision.
  • Carries out routine tasks in support of product development, testing, or analysis, contributing to technical documentation and team deliverables.
  • Analyzes data sets and test results to identify patterns, verify expected performance, and support decision-making under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Develops electrical designs, schematics, or system layouts in accordance with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Communicates findings, task updates, and technical questions to project teams and supervisors in a clear and timely manner.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional peers to exchange routine information related to project progress, equipment needs, or scheduling.
  • Contributes to project documentation and knowledge databases by compiling test data, system parameters, or component specifications.
  • Does troubleshooting of circuit or system-level issues and escalates problems requiring deeper technical intervention.
  • Drafts progress reports, technical summaries, or support materials in collaboration with other team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Specialized Degree: Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

Years of Experience: 0-2 Years

Field of Expertise: Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

Preferred Education & Experience

Licenses/Certificates: AutoCAD Electrical CertificationOSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification
