Job summary

HDT Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist in the design, development, and analysis of electrical systems for rugged military and industrial products.

Responsibilities include control and power system design, CAD wiring diagrams, and BOM creation, with collaboration across engineering teams to ensure robust performance and compliance with quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering; MS preferred or FE exam
• 3-5 years related experience in electrical engineering
• Experience with AutoCAD for electrical systems design
• ERP/PDM/PLM software proficiency; SAP preferred
• PCB experience a plus; enclosure layouts and wiring diagrams experience

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze control and power systems for electrical enclosures
• Develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Create wire harnesses and BOMs; manage revisions in PDM/EPDM
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers on 3D enclosure layouts (Solid Works)
• Support project management practices and risk mitigation

Electrical Engineer will assist in design, development, implementation, and analysis of parts, systems and technical processes. Works with a team of engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports. Completes engineering projects and electro‑mechanical system designs to support the successful development, implementation, and sustainment of new systems and products, or modifications and revisions to current systems and products.

Essential Duties

• Control system design
• Power system design, including VFDs
• Develop electrical schematics
• Develop wiring diagrams
• Wire harness development, including wire lists
• 2D CAD design experience required (AutoCAD software experience preferred)
• Work with mechanical engineers and designers to build 3D electrical enclosure layouts (Solid Works experience would be considered a plus)
• Complete designs with and direct technical activities of assigned designers and technicians
• Use of Product Data Management (PDM) software for revision control (Solid Works EPDM experience would be considered a plus)
• Create/edit BOMs using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (SAP experience preferred)
• Familiarity with analog and digital electrical circuits and components
• Familiarity with electrical component selection and panel wiring
• Familiarity with communication buses such as RS232/RS422/RS485, CAN bus, LVSB, and Ethernet preferred
• Follow standard project management practices
• Proactively identifies and mitigates risk

Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities

• BS degree in Engineering required. MS degree in Engineering or passed FE exam preferred
• 3-5 years related experience
• Experience w/AutoCAD for electrical systems design
• Professional use of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)/Product Data Management (PDM) software; Solid Works EPDM preferred
• ERP/MRP software proficiency; SAP preferred
• Experience developing control systems including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, wire lists, and enclosure layouts. PCB experience a plus
• Experience working with engineering project management tools
• Possess strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages; Microsoft Office
• Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
