Job summary

Manson Construction Co. seeks an Engineer - Dredging to support the Project Management Team across the southeast U.S. Onsite engineering, technical support, and quality control will be key duties as the team travels to various Gulf and East Coast project sites.

The role emphasizes hydrographic surveying, coordination with field staff, and review of engineering data to ensure conformance with project plans. Dredging experience is preferred; heavy travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
  • FE exam completed and EIT status preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software - HCSS & Primavera, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite engineering and technical support for dredging and marine construction projects.
  • Develop project work element plans and JSAs.
  • Coordinate definable features of work with superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors.
  • Perform critical path scheduling and three-week look-ahead scheduling.
  • Review designs, drawings, and data for conformance with project plans and specs.

Engineer - Dredging (Gulf and East Coast)

Summary

This position is a part of our Project Management Team for our various jobsite locations throughout the southeast United States. Engineers provide onsite engineering and technical support, quality control, construction management assistance, land surveys, and help maintain a safe working environment. Dredging or marine construction experience is preferred. Travel is extensive.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hydrographic and Beach/Land surveying for construction management purposes.
  • Technical support for equipment computer systems.
  • Development of project work element plans and JSAs.
  • Coordinate project definable features of work with Manson superintendents, foremen, craft workers, and subcontractors.
  • Critical path scheduling and 3 week look ahead scheduling.
  • Review designs, drawings, and engineering data prepared by Manson consultants and vendors for conformance with project plans and specifications, and identify associated conflicts.
  • Investigation and research for needed permanent and consumable material items, equipment, and tools.
  • Inspection of newly delivered permanent materials for conformance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities with the client's representatives and other project stakeholders.
  • Production monitoring.
  • Monitor of Manson and its subcontractors' operations.
  • Daily operations and quality control reporting.
  • Project photographic records.
  • General project support.
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.
  • May directly supervise engineering interns
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management or Construction Management, from a four-year college or university is required
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
  • Marine Construction or Dredging Industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software - HCSS & Primavera, preferred

Main office in Gulf Coast Region is located in Jacksonville, FL. Engineers will work 19-9 rotations (19 days on, 9 days off) traveling to different project sites around the Gulf and East region.

Physical Demands: Position is primarily a field position, and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
