Job summary

Leidos in Reston, Virginia is seeking an Engineer Drafter to create and modify detailed part, assembly, installation, and facility drawings using CAD, CAM, CATIA, and BIM software. You will develop BIM models, perform clash detection, and coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate, regulatory-compliant outputs.

The role requires a technical background in BIM-related disciplines, strong communication skills, and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary government-contractor

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI Polygraph clearance required.
• US Citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years or Master’s with 2+ years; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Experience in BIM-related disciplines (Civil, Structural, Protective Engineering) or related.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to brief senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Integrate all-source intelligence, geotechnical data, topographical data, underground infrastructure expertise, and engineering principles to identify and model facility functions and physical configurations.
• Develop detailed 3D BIM models and 2D CAD drawings across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Perform clash detection and coordination among engineering disciplines by reviewing models to identify and resolve conflicts before design completion.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance project-specific and enterprise BIM libraries, including custom families, templates, metadata, and annotations.
• Audit models to ensure data integrity, spatial accuracy, compliance with Level of Development (LOD) requirements, and adherence to BIM standards.
• Generate customer-required documentation from BIM models, including technical reports and material schedules.
• Participate in model coordination meetings with clients and cross-functional project teams.
• Execute detailed layout and design drawings in accordance with established drafting standards.
