Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related work experience.
• Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 500/5000, FactoryTalk View Studio and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of safety systems.
• Strong fundamentals in control/electrical design for automated industrial designs.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles.
• Ensure safety objectives and legal requirements for all work.
• Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations for electrical requirements, robotics safety, and motor controls.
• Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
• Create accurate Bills of Materials.
• Define equipment and parts from external suppliers.
• Oversee project workflow and support resources to ensure timely delivery, quality, and budget.
• Electrical and software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures (pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, networks, touchscreens, push buttons, PLCs).
• Create documentation (user manuals, diagrams, electrical drawings).
• Maintain records per quality standards.
• Modify/create process instructions following document control.
• Apply process improvements via NSP, ECR, ECN.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Controls Engineer supports the overall manufacturing process through the ownership of PLC-related programming, troubleshooting, and support of PLC ladder logic. The Controls Engineer is also responsible for working with other Process Engineers on projects in a variety of areas around the plant.

Responsibilities:

• Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and involvement in presentation of the solution to customer.
• Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
• Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
• Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
• Create accurate Bill of Materials.
• Define equipment and parts from external suppliers.
• Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
• Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures that may include pneumatics, servos, vfd's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, push buttons and PLCs.
• Create documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
• Modify/create process instructions around the plant following the document control process.
• Apply process improvements following the NSP, ECR and ECN systems.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Job requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Related work experience ).
• Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 and 5000, Factory Talk View Studio and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of safety systems.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
• Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
• Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
• Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
• Ability to balance multiple projects.
