Job summary

Omni Nashville Hotel is hiring a Maintenance Engineer (Class 2) in the Engineering department. The role focuses on maintaining hotel mechanical systems, performing repairs, and ensuring guest comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, responding to house calls, and coordinating with engineers and contractors. A strong focus on safety, teamwork, and guest service is required to excel in this position.

Qualifications

  • Prior building maintenance experience or relevant technical training.
  • Knowledge of painting, basic plumbing, basic electrical, minor carpentry, lighting and computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all mechanical items in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs.
  • Clean work areas after completing job.
  • Fill out daily work requests in Synergy.
  • Understand Omni fire alarm procedures and hotel safety rules.
  • Assist guests with maintenance issues in rooms and public areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms as assigned.
  • Work with team to keep back-of-house areas safe and well-maintained.
  • Assist external contractors with repairs as needed.
  • Complete all assigned work orders and tasks.

JOB DESCRIPTION

No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guest or required by the hotel. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer (Class 2)

REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor, Assistant Director of Engineering, Director of Engineering

JOB PURPOSE: To ensure a safe, efficient, well‑maintained hotel environment while providing maintenance services to guests in a courteous, professional, and engaging manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain all mechanical items in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs.
  • Clean all work areas after completing job.
  • Fill out daily work requests in Synergy.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
  • Assist hotel guests with any guest room maintenance issues (plumbing, lighting, electrical, painting, etc).
  • Perform preventative maintenance responsibilities on all guest rooms as assigned.
  • Maintain all mechanical items in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Work as a team to keep the back of house areas and equipment in safe, good working order.
  • Clean all work areas after completing job.
  • Assists mechanics and external contractors in repairs of hotel property and equipment.
  • Completion of all assigned work orders and daily tasks.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio.
  • Have a thorough understanding of OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Be familiar with all hotel amenities and hotel facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior building maintenance experience and/or relevant technical training, including commercial laundry and kitchen equipment experience.
  • Candidate must have the knowledge and ability to use the proper equipment and tools (ladders, genie‑lift, etc.), and to include Personal protective equipment.
  • Must possess painting, basic plumbing, basic electrical, minor carpentry, lighting and computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.
  • Excellent customer service and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Requires repetitive motion of arms and hands.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
  • Painting/finishing tools and equipment, ladder, telephone, pen/pencil, copying machine and push to talk radio. SALTO Card system, basic and power hand tools (i.e. hammer, screwdriver, etc.), step stools and ladders
