Job summary

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is seeking an Engineer 4 for the Evening Shift to maintain tower suites, casino, restaurants, pool, back-of-house areas and related services. This safety-critical role requires hands-on maintenance, problem solving and adherence to hotel policies.

Responsibilities include responding to maintenance calls, table games and lighting system work, sign maintenance, escalator and people mover resets, event setup support, and collaboration with vendors and guests.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4–6 years experience in electrical, plumbing, and heating appliances.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Nevada Driver's License, gaming card, and other required licenses.
  • Certification to operate boom and scissor lifts is required or obtainable.
  • Understand the basic operation of lighting dimmer systems.
  • General maintenance skills are required.
  • Experience with hand tools and electronic equipment is preferred.
  • Clear and effective English communication, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance calls throughout casino, restaurants, pool, back-of-house and garage.
  • Maintain table games equipment and related systems.
  • Maintain back-light signs.
  • Reset and secure escalators and people movers.
  • Assist in event setup for slots and table games.
  • Maintain Executive offices, ballrooms, meeting rooms and Corporate offices.
  • Troubleshoot complex maintenance problems and create solutions.
  • Perform maintenance on lighting dimming systems.
  • Operate lighting systems in the Congress Center.
  • Read and review plans as needed.
  • Interface with vendors and evaluate new maintenance products.
  • Coordinate with tenants regarding maintenance and housekeeping needs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Uphold safety as an essential function of the job.
  • Maintain consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of an Engineer 4 Evening Shift is to maintain the tower suites, casino, restaurants, pool, back of house, self-park garage and any other areas.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Respond to maintenance calls in the casino, restaurants, pool, back of house and self-park garage.
  • Table games maintenance.
  • Maintenance of all back light signs.
  • Reset and secure all escalators and people movers.
  • Assist in the set-up of special events for slots and table games.
  • Maintenance of Executive offices, ballrooms, meeting rooms and Corporate offices.
  • Troubleshoots complex maintenance problems and develops creative solutions.
  • Performs maintenance as necessary on dimming equipment throughout the property.
  • Operate the lighting systems in the Congress Center.
  • Able to read and review plans.
  • Interfaces with vendors. Researches and evaluates new and innovative maintenance products and procedures.
  • Interfaces with tenants regarding their maintenance and housekeeping needs.
  • Able to perform preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have certification or able to be certified to operate boom and scissor lifts.
  • Understand the basic operation of lighting dimmer systems.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge using hand tools and electronic equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
