Job summary

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is seeking an experienced Engineer – Electrician responsible for installation and maintenance of all electrical systems. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in the electrical industry and be proficient in safety procedures and electrical codes.

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work varied shifts. The job includes troubleshooting electrical issues and interfacing with contractors. A high school diploma and the ability to read blueprints are essential.

Job description

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Engineer – Electrician is to provide installation and maintenance of all electrical systems. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Intimate knowledge of electrical troubleshooting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for high and low voltage.
  • Mechanical maintenance, grounds keeping, interior and exterior maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots complex maintenance problems and develops creative solutions.
  • Performs maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Interfaces with contractors, creates written specifications and secures bids for services in accordance with established bid process, reviews plans.
  • Interfaces with vendors.
  • Researches and evaluates new technology and maintenance products and procedures.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Interfaces with tenants regarding their maintenance and housekeeping needs.
  • Establishes schedules for repairs and preventative maintenance and ensures that they are adhered to.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

  • Organize tasks, projects and/or provide direction on activities, tasks or systems in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Manage or work on actual repair, maintenance or modification of a service or product or facility to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product or service or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Possess skills to engineer, repair, enhance and modify a product or service or system or facility.
  • Take action to put into use the product, service or system.
  • Oversee and direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice and provide expertise or judgment based on the product or service or system or facility being maintained, repaired, modified, developed, studied, analyzed or reviewed.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s License and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 5 years’ experience working in the electrical industry.
  • Preferred Journeyman Electrician or Nevada Electrical Qualified Person.
  • Knowledge of all electrical systems, low and high voltage; familiarity with all NEC series.
  • Knowledge in electrical and appliances.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications and owner’s manual.
  • Experience in 4160 volt is preferred.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Must have basic hand tools and insulated tools.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must take extra precautions to safeguard against electric shock or electrical discharge.
  • Appropriate safety measures must be followed, and appropriate safety gear must be worn at all times.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
