Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks a Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Modeling (CAM) Engineer – Level 2 to support radar system development programs in Colorado Springs, CO.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation.
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Identify design errors, omissions and other deficiencies and recommend revisions or improvements to responsible engineers or designers.
- Support the overall Production Lifecycle Management System.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Science with 2 years of professional experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Science with no professional experience required.
- Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software packages, including NX, Creo, and/or SolidWorks.
- Experience creating engineering drawings compliant with ASME standards.
- Experience with illustration software packages such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and Adobe Fresco.
- Experience with generating inductured part lists and drawing tree levels of indenture.
- Experience establishing and maintaining a system configuration baseline.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience with production lifecycle management systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or ARAS.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to focus on micro and macro details of complex systems of systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter for managing products and CAD data.
- Experience developing complete design drawings and specifications across the entire product development life cycle.
- Experience with design verification and verification reporting.
- Experience designing and modeling mechanical hardware interfaces such as mounting brackets.
- Experience with cable management and cable assembly requirements for RF and fiber optic applications.
- Experience with integrated electrical systems setup, testing and issue resolution.
- Knowledge of test design and execution.
- Work experience in a government contracting environment.
- Experience with USAF/DoD radar systems.
- Experience using AI drafting assistants to generate 3D models from text prompts.
- Experience with USAF Technical Orders.
- Experience with AGILE, SCRUM, and DevOps practices.
Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 – $113,800.00. Base pay may be adjusted based on responsibilities, experience, education and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and in some cases long-term incentives.
