Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer - Radar Architect – Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO.

In this job, you will:

Support development and integration of radar subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives. Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Performing functional and performance analyses of Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs) and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs). Maintaining and balancing budgets of key radar performance metrics (losses, accuracy, sensitivity). Development of mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor implementation. Supporting development of software to model behavior of systems in real-time and constructive simulations of sensors and other platforms. Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization. Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements and assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments. Guiding the team through development/implementation activities.

Furthermore, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future*.

This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.

Basic Qualifications:

Level 3: 5 Years with Bachelors STEM in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD. Level 4: 8 Years with Bachelors STEM in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access. Expertise with code prototyping (MATLAB, Python, or related languages). Experience working through the Systems Engineering lifecycle process for system development. Experience with Signals Processing. Experience with Radar Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with applied Radar Range Equation and Swerling Models for operational performance analysis
  • Experience with MS Office tool suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to project plan and execute
  • Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus
  • Familiarity with MBSE Modeling (Cameo Enterprise Architecture)
  • Familiarity in Agile methodology (Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Experience with Electronics systems performance analysis, test or integration
  • An understanding of the physical limitations to implementing complex algorithms in real hardware

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
