Job summary

Encompass Digital Media in Stamford, CT is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to install, test and repair broadcast television systems. The role covers video servers, routers, frame synchronizers, encoders, automation servers and IT infrastructure in a 24x7 live environment.

The candidate should have an Associate’s degree, 3+ years in broadcast engineering, and strong troubleshooting skills. Flexibility to work under pressure and lift heavy objects is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of broadcast engineering experience.
• Knowledgeable in broadcast television standards/formats.
• Able to make time-critical decisions in live on-air environments.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting computers/servers.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain digital, HD and related broadcast equipment.
• Configure and troubleshoot computers, servers and IT infrastructure for broadcast needs.
• Provide telemetry updates to the manager on work progress and vendor issues.
• Proficient use of test equipment (oscilloscopes, waveform monitors, generators).
• Provide users and customers with timely technical support.
• Create and maintain drawings for projects.
• Ensure operations comply with FCC guidelines.
• Perform other assignments as needed.

Job Description

The Broadcast Engineeris responsible forinstallation,test, andrepairbroadcast television systems and equipment. Equipmentencounteredin this position includes, but is not limited to video servers, broadcast automation systems, VTRs, routers, frame synchronizers, format converters, distribution amplifiers, encoders, automation servers and computer networks as well as other equipment associated with a television broadcast facility.

• Install,repairandmaintaincomplex digital, high-definition and equipment associated with broadcast operations.
• Configurationand troubleshooting of computers,serversand IT infrastructure for various broadcast needs.
• Providesfeedback to the manager of broadcast engineering on the progress and status of internal work assignments as well as open vendor related support issues.
• Proficiencyin the use of various digital test equipment to correct equipment problems including oscilloscopes waveform monitors,generatorsand analyzers.
• Providesusers and customers with professional, courteous, andtimelytechnical support.
• Create, andmaintaindrawings for assigned projects,
• Ensuresbroadcast operations are within current FCC guidelines and regulations.
• Performsother specialassignmentsas necessary.

Requirements

• Associate’sdegree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Threeor more years of broadcast engineering experience. To perform this job successfully, this individual must be familiar with duties related tooperatingand maintaining a broadcast facility.
• Knowledgeablein broadcast television systems standards and formats.
• Ableto make time critical decisions in a liveon airenvironment under pressure.
• Experiencedin configuration and troubleshooting of computers, servers, and their various operating systems.
• Abilityto troubleshoot problems without help or supervision.
• Mustbe well-organized and self-motivated.

The nature of this position requires the employee to typically work in a broadcast television environment. This position is technical in nature and requires finger dexterity, good eyesight, and the ability to lift heavy objects when needed.
