Job Summary/Objective

Our applications engineering team plays a critical role in servicing high-volume residential, commercial, industrial, OEM, and utility customers both in North America and internationally. The CableTechSupportTM Services was established with the mission of Re3TM: to Respond, Rectify, and Restore electrical systems using Reinforced, Resilient, and Reliable Solutions. We seek an engineer with extensive experience in substation control and underground and overhead secondary and medium voltage primary utility cable markets to enhance our application, field support, business development, and service innovation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Interpret industry codes & standards (NEC/NFPA, NEMA, UL, IEEE, CSA, ICEA, AEIC, NESC, ASTM, IEC) to support customers using application knowledge of Southwire's wire & cable products.
  2. Develop and deliver technical presentations, product training seminars, and support sales channels to maintain or grow market share.
  3. Create technical documents to educate customers on cable design, ratings, installation, and application best practices.
  4. Promote CableTechSupportTM Services through webinars, whitepapers, articles, and conference speaking engagements.
  5. Identify jobsite challenges, anticipate customer needs, and develop tailored solutions for demanding environments such as hazardous locations, power plants, substations, and data centers.
  6. Coordinate technical requests for RFIs/RFQs, bid proposals, and project approvals.
  7. Conduct hands-on demonstrations with cable accessories, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  8. Assist in cable sizing and ampacity calculations based on industry standards.
  9. Review complex electrical wiring designs and provide installation procedures and field testing solutions.
  10. Travel up to 50% for conferences, job sites, and plant locations.
Education, Experience, and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' application support or product engineering experience in the wire & cable, power, utility, manufacturing, or electrical industry

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Over 10 years' experience, including R&D and hands-on installation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; bilingual abilities are a plus
  • Certifications such as Master Electrician or Cable Splicer are desirable
