Job description

Position Overview

At Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, as an Engineer 3, you will serve as the subject matter expert for highly complex, automated plastics manufacturing solutions, primarily focused on injection molding. This role is responsible for implementing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes to drive improvements in efficiency, product quality, and cost.

Responsibilities
  • Receive assigned project leadership responsibilities for major significant projects and manage smaller projects.
  • Lead the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, supporting overall business objectives.
  • Implement and understand FDA or regulatory requirements as necessary.
  • Apply technology principles across tasks and maintain cross-functional knowledge.
  • Identify risks, prevent delays, and manage resource commitments.
  • Provide proactive technical guidance and promote skill development of team members.
  • Represent the organization in solving complex technical issues related to molding processes, tooling design, repair, and secondary operations.
  • Follow technical specification requirements and provide feedback on processes and procedures.
  • Present complex technical information effectively to staff and management.
  • Work cooperatively within a team environment to achieve goals.
  • Analyze process information to refine maintenance procedures or initiate equipment modifications.
  • Support department KPIs and metrics.
  • Implement permanent corrective actions, developing concepts, prototypes, and engineering control documents.
  • Coordinate the work of outside mold makers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Continue developing technical skills through schooling, self‑study, and training.
  • Utilize root‑cause analysis tools to identify issues and guide corrective actions.
  • Possibly supervise technicians and junior engineers.
  • Work with manufacturing, quality, and other groups on compliance issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (Bachelor of Science preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience, including 2 years of GMP manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding, plastics processing, tooling, and assembly.
  • Hands‑on injection molding set‑up and process development experience; knowledge of mold design and construction to conduct reviews.
  • Experience with mold maintenance and configurations.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical innovation, leadership, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Strong technical problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Mechanical and electronic aptitude for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of FDA or regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with PC software applications.
Location

Lakewood, Colorado – Onsite. Open to candidates willing to relocate.

Physical Requirements
  • Use personal protective equipment, read, speak, hear, walk, bend, stand, stretch, reach, and use hand tools; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and transporting up to 500 lbs via carts.
  • Ability to sit or stand throughout the shift.
  • Must climb ladders and operate in tight spaces.

Compensation

Target Pay Range: $105,800.00 to $132,300.00.

Target Bonus on Base: 7.0%.
