Job summary

Clear. is seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer to deliver high-quality substation designs for utility and power delivery projects across the United States. The role involves developing designs from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

You will coordinate with engineering, project management, and utility teams, producing drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for medium- and high-voltage systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Substation design experience on utility/power delivery projects.
• Experience with medium/high-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of substation design principles and equipment.
• Experience producing drawings, calculations and technical documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering high-quality design solutions across a diverse portfolio of electrical utility and power delivery projects throughout the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking to work on complex substation projects while collaborating with experienced engineering, project management, and utility teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting substation designs from concept through to construction, ensuring projects meet client requirements, applicable engineering standards, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical substation designs for utility and power delivery projects.
• Produce and review electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Design and coordinate substation equipment layouts, grounding systems, cable systems, protection and control interfaces, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Interpret client requirements, utility standards, engineering specifications, and applicable codes.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & control, and other engineering disciplines.
• Perform technical reviews of engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional experience in substation design and engineering.
• Experience working with medium- and/or high-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of substation design principles, equipment, and electrical infrastructure.
• Experience producing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
