Responsibilities

General requirements are as follows:

  • The ideal candidate will apply heavy mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles to resolve complex field failures and support the development and implementation of corrective actions, serving as a key technical liaison between fleet maintenance activities, the government Program Management Office (PMO), and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

Specific requirements and tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Support: Technical lead on investigating and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural issues and failures observed on fielded ACVs.
  • Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs): Author, evaluate, and review contractor-submitted ECPs, Requests for Change (RFC), and Requests for Variance (RFVs); Ensure systems engineering best practices are followed and design considerations such as weight, reliability, maintainability, and overall readiness return-on-investment.
  • Root-Cause & Trend Analysis: Analyze Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs) and field telemetry data to identify systemic failure trends.
  • Sustainment & Maintenance Optimization: Evaluate vehicle Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) metrics; Collaborate with logistics teams to refine preventative maintenance schedules, overhaul procedures, and diagnostic troubleshooting trees.
  • Test Witnessing & Validation: Author test plans and witness physical validation testing on modified components; Evaluate improvements to determine return-on-investment; Participate in Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).

  • Obsolescence: Actively monitor, assess, and resolve Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) cases; Identify alternative suppliers, form-fit-function replacements, or engineering redesign pathways when OEMs exit the market.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) discipline.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience, preferably with Department of Defense (DoD)/DoW Major Defense Acquisition Programs and/or military ground vehicles.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Preferred: Prior experience as a defense contractor supporting Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) or Program Executive Office (PEO) Land Systems.
