Job summary

The Summit Hotel Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to respond to guest requests, perform preventive maintenance, and keep hotel systems safe and reliable. The role covers boiler, chiller, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs across the property.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and at least two years in building maintenance, with strong safety awareness and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade courses preferred.
• At least two years in building maintenance or similar.
• Ability to repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems.
• Effective communication with management, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest service calls promptly and courteously.
• Perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, guest rooms).
• Take water samples and treat boiler/cooling tower systems as needed.
• Operate boiler, chiller, and monitor electrical gear for proper operation.
• Maintain housekeeping of engineering spaces and log daily activities.
• Respond to emergencies (alarms, power failures) and coordinate with authorities.

Ensure a safe, resourceful, and well-maintained hotel environment. PM Shift.**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES*** Respond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.* Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms.* Take water samples of boiler, loop, and cooling tower systems and treat the water to maintain predetermined levels of chemical concentration.* Operate various equipment; maintain the domestic hot and cold-water systems and monitor various electrical switch gears to ensure proper operation.* Maintain the cleanliness and general maintenance duties in the engineering spaces as well as other assigned daily operations.* Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order.* Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings, and maintain log to notify the next shift.* Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities.* Handle operation of the boiler and chiller and maintaining temperatures throughout the building.* Assist with maintenance of parking lot and snow removal as needed.* Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** High school diploma or equivalent trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction.* Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing equipment and perform carpentry, repair work, construction and renovation work.* Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.* Two years prior experience in building maintenance and construction.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**Lift/Push/Pull/Carry - up to 50 -75 plus lbs. supplies, equipment and machinery. Bending - required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift. Kneeling- required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift.
