Job summary

Valor Hospitality Partners in Alabama seeks a skilled maintenance engineer to respond to guest requests, perform preventive maintenance, and keep hotel equipment running efficiently and safely.

You will handle boiler, chiller, HVAC, electrical and plumbing tasks, take readings, log activities, and assist with emergency responses. A high school diploma and 2 years in building maintenance are required; a strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years prior experience in building maintenance and construction.
• Ability to maintain HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment; perform carpentry and renovation work.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest maintenance requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, guest rooms).
• Take water samples and manage chemical levels for boiler and cooling systems.
• Operate and monitor domestic hot/cold water systems and electrical switchgear.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of engineering spaces and assigned areas.
• Make rounds to ensure systems are functional and logs are up to date.
• Respond to emergencies including fire alarms, power failures, and security events.
• Assist with boiler and chiller operations and building temperature control.
• Support parking lot maintenance and snow removal as needed.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Ensure a safe, resourceful, and well-maintained hotel environment.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIESRespond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms.Take water samples of boiler, loop, and cooling tower systems and treat the water to maintain predetermined levels of chemical concentration.Operate various equipment; maintain the domestic hot and cold-water systems and monitor various electrical switch gears to ensure proper operation.Maintain the cleanliness and general maintenance duties in the engineering spaces as well as other assigned daily operations.Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order.Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings, and maintain log to notify the next shift.Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities.Handle operation of the boiler and chiller and maintaining temperatures throughout the building.Assist with maintenance of parking lot and snow removal as needed.Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESHigh school diploma or equivalent trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction.Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing equipment and perform carpentry, repair work, construction and renovation work.Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.Two years prior experience in building maintenance and construction.PHYSICAL DEMANDSLift/Push/Pull/Carry - up to 50 -75 plus lbs. supplies, equipment and machinery. Bending - required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift. Kneeling- required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift.
