Job summary

The Townsend Hotel is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to maintain and repair the property’s physical structure and components on-site in Birmingham, MI. The role emphasizes completing work orders and quick guest issue resolution, under the guidance of the Director of Facilities and Engineering Supervisor.

Applicant should have light HVAC repair skills, ability to read electrical, mechanical and HVAC drawings, and practical experience with building systems.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent education required.
• Light Commercial HVAC system repair skills.
• Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, HVAC and building system drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems; diagnose and repair as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of the hotel's physical structure and components within.
• Perform and assist in the completion of routine maintenance and the physical structure of hotel.
• Complete work orders and radio calls when assigned, ensuring guest concerns are resolved quickly.
• Complete tasks by directives from the Director of Facilities or Engineering Supervisor to ensure up-to-date Preventive Maintenance.
• Assist in servicing and maintaining system controls, devices, instruments and building hardware as instructed.
• Comply with all federal, state and local compliance ordinances.
• Conduct daily inspections of all public areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintenance and repair of the hotels physical structure and components within.
• Perform and assist in the completion of routine maintenance and the physical structure of hotel.
• Completion of work orders and radio calls when assigned, in an orderly and efficient manner with an emphasis on resolving guest concerns quickly.
• Completion of tasks deemed necessary by the Director of Facilities and/or the Engineering Supervisor to ensure up to date Preventive Maintenance.
• Assist in servicing and maintaining system controls, devices, instruments and various building hardware as instructed by the Director of Facilities and/or the Engineering Supervisor.
• Comply with all relevant federal, state and local compliance ordinances.
• Conduct daily inspections of all public areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Light Commercial HVAC system repair skills.
• Basic knowledge necessary to interpret electrical, mechanical, HVAC and building system drawings.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems with the ability to analyze machine design intent, performance and make repairs as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Requires working in all areas of the hotel with its associated extreme temperatures, inclement weather, high noise levels, working heights, and dusty or dirty conditions throughout the property.
• Must be able to safely grasp, lift and carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Must be capable of working effectively from heights up to 30 feet.
• Must be capable of effectively using a computer, phone systems and two way radios.
• May be required to use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing and respiratory protection.
