Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Johannesburg seeks an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician - Apprentice to support workshop operations and learn repair techniques for engines and power generators. You will assist with diagnostics, disassembly, inspection and basic repairs under supervision.

You will follow safety procedures, maintain documentation, travel as required by the role, and participate in training aligned with Cummins' standards and local requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in product repair and maintenance; disassemble/assemble engines and diagnose issues.
• Strong mechanical knowledge; follow safe work procedures and use diagnostic methods.
• Valid driver’s license; willing to travel as required by the role.

Responsibilities

• Support workshop operations and maintain cleanliness and order in the workspace.
• Assist with documentation, time sheets, and reporting of work completed.
• Learn Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and perform basic repairs under supervision.
• Proactively report issues to supervisor for continuous improvement.
• Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.
