Our client, an automotive company, is seeking an Engine Validation Engineer for their Auburn Hills, MI location.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Bill of Materials (BOM), including release into the BOM management system.
- Oversee receipt of full BOMs for engine assemblies.
- Coordinate build schedules to meet customer testing, vehicle builds, and other requirements.
- Lead/support engine builds in EBU and prepare in METS.
- Support dynamometer testing.
- Maintain build records and manage disposition or storage of engines.
- Build and deliver engine assemblies for DV testing and Mule vehicle builds, including product launches.
- Develop and improve test procedures, DV plans, and PV plans for internal combustion engines.
- Execute DV and PV tests based on performance requirements, DVP, DFMEA, and field issues.
- Investigate validation issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Review and publish test results.
- Conduct failure mode recreations and warranty claim investigations.
- Create incident reports to drive issues to closure.
- Provide weekly testing status updates to the Chief Engineer organization.
- Update test timing plans and DVP&R documents regularly.
- Organize post-test analysis and teardown activities.
- Review reports with the Chief Engineer and file in PDS.
- Provide instructions for test property disposition, reuse, or recycling.
- Ensure proper record collection and storage upon validation completion.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of related experience.
- Understanding of automotive processes like DFMEA and DVP&R.
- Familiarity with automotive engine design, components, and testing.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Traits: Organized, action-oriented, adaptable, customer-focused, problem solver.
- Advanced degree in engine development, control systems, or calibration preferred.
- Knowledge of CAN communication.
- Experience in validation plan creation and execution for engine components.
- 5+ years in engine design, development, or validation.
- Experience with engine teardowns and rebuilds.
