Job summary

INNIO Group in Waukesha, Wisconsin is seeking an Engine Test Technician – Electrical to join our Jenbacher operation. You will work hands-on with gas engines, electrical controls, instrumentation, and test-cell equipment, preparing engines for testing and supporting startup and operation through test cycles.

The role emphasizes reading schematics, troubleshooting, safety, and quality, with opportunities for international training at Jenbach, Austria.

Qualifications

• Must have an associate degree, apprenticeship, military technical training or equivalent hands-on electrical/electronics experience.
• Experience with industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, engines, generators, or similar machinery.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of PLC-based controls, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and safety emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engines, controls, instrumentation, and test-cell equipment for testing.
• Perform electrical inspections and verify wiring, sensors, control panels, and connections.
• Connect engines to test-cell electrical, controls, and instrumentation systems.
• Load control software and configure approved system parameters.
• Support engine startup and operate engines through defined test cycles.
• Monitor engine performance, electrical parameters, alarms, controls, and test data.
• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, instrumentation, and test-cell issues.
• Read and use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic information.
• Complete test records, troubleshooting documentation, and acceptance results.
• Help establish and improve testing processes as our new Waukesha operation grows.

Join INNIO’s growing Jenbacher operation in Waukesha and help launch our brand-new engine test facility. As an Engine Test Technician – Electrical, you will work hands‑on with Jenbacher gas engines, electrical controls, instrumentation, and test‑cell equipment. You will prepare engines for testing, support engine startup, monitor engines through test cycles, troubleshoot electrical and controls‑related issues, and help ensure every engine meets performance, safety, and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Associate degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent hands‑on experience in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, automation, or related field
• Experience with industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, engines, generators, test equipment, or similar machinery
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of PLC‑based controls, sensors, and instrumentation
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Strong commitment to safety and quality

Experience with gas engines, generators, power‑generation equipment, test cells, dynamometers, industrial controls, or equipment commissioning is a plus.

International Training Opportunity

As part of the startup of our new Jenbacher operation, team members in this role will have the opportunity to complete hands‑on training at our Jenbacher operation in Jenbach, Austria. Training includes company‑paid airfare, housing, transportation, and per diem.

• Schedule: First shift, Monday through Friday. Potential for second shift opportunities in the future.
