Job summary

INNIO Group is expanding its Jenbacher operation in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and is seeking a hands-on Engine Test Technician - Mechanical to prepare, test, troubleshoot, and validate large gas engines and power units. You’ll work closely with test cells, gaining exposure to safety, quality, and standardized testing practices.

This role involves coordinating with Electrical Test Technicians, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Assembly, with opportunities to participate in international training

• Fill fluids, perform leak checks, and verify engine readiness before testing.
• Install and remove hoses, piping, adapters, sensors, and test equipment.
• Support engine start-up and operate and monitor engines through test cycles.
• Document test results, defects, repairs, and corrective actions.
• De-rig engines following testing and prepare them for the next production operation.

The Engine Test Technician - Mechanical is a hands‑on role responsible for preparing, testing, troubleshooting, and validating Jenbacher gas engines and power units. You’ll work directly with large industrial engines and test‑cell equipment while helping establish safe, reliable, and efficient testing processes for our new operation.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare engines and test cells for testing.
• Position, rig, connect, and disconnect engines using cranes and material handling equipment.
• Connect exhaust, cooling, fuel-gas, lubrication, pneumatic, and other mechanical systems.
• Fill fluids, perform leak checks, and verify engine readiness before testing.
• Install and remove hoses, piping, adapters, sensors, and test equipment.
• Support engine start‑up and operate and monitor engines through test cycles.
• Monitor pressures, temperatures, vibration, cooling, lubrication, fuel systems, and other engine conditions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, engine, piping, cooling, lubrication, and fuel‑gas issues.
• Perform repairs, adjustments, component replacement, and rework as needed.
• Support functional, performance, leak, and acceptance testing.
• Document test results, defects, repairs, and corrective actions.
• De‑rig engines following testing and prepare them for the next production operation.
• Work closely with Electrical Test Technicians, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Assembly.
• Help establish standardized work, troubleshooting methods, and best practices for our new Waukesha test operation.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, apprenticeship, associate degree, or related experience preferred.
• Hands‑on mechanical experience with engines, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, automotive/diesel systems, power‑generation equipment, or similar equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with piping, hoses, valves, cooling systems, lubrication systems, fuel systems, or exhaust systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, work instructions, specifications, and test procedures.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical test equipment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Experience with gas engines, generators, power‑generation equipment, test cells, dynamometers, industrial controls, or equipment commissioning is a plus.

International Training Opportunity

As part of the startup of our new Jenbacher operation, team members in this role will have the opportunity to complete hands‑on training at our Jenbacher operation in Jenbach, Austria. Training includes company‑paid airfare, housing, transportation, and per diem.
