Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a Testing Technician in Arden, NC to set up and operate gas stands and engine dynamometers, perform a range of bench testing, and document results for Engineering. You will read specifications, measure hardware, and ensure accurate data collection while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

The role requires an engineering-related degree or equivalent experience, hands-on testing in powertrain environments, and proficiency with measurement tools.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related automotive field preferred.
• Equivalent mechanical powertrain experience with 2+ years in R&D or lab testing.
• Experience in general machining and fabrication, including basic welding.
• Experience in automotive powertrain test environment is desired.
• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with measurement tools (indicators, micrometers, calipers).
• Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks on time.
• Basic computer literacy including MS Office and lab software.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate gas stands, engine dynamometers, and other testing equipment.
• Read and interpret instructions and specifications for tests.
• Measure hardware using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Document results and maintain test logs and notes.
• Prepare test schedules and assist with calibration of stands.
• Perform maintenance on test stands and equipment.
• Communicate results to Engineering and team.
• Follow 6S, safety, and quality policies.
