Job summary

Foley Equipment, the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Kansas and NW Missouri, is looking for an Engine Field Technician. You will perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on engines, diagnose problems, and recommend repairs in a fast-paced environment.

Must be willing to work overtime, complete DOT inspections, and travel for training or to assist at other locations. A valid driver’s license is required; CDL eligibility is a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical field experience with engines.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical publications.

Responsibilities

• Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on engines; diagnose and troubleshoot.
• Work overtime as needed and be available for after-hours calls.
• Perform required DOT inspections on service trucks.
• Create a customer-focused work environment.
• Travel for training or to assist at other locations.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on engines as well as diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustment
• Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after‑hours calls as needed
• Perform required DOT inspections to ensure service truck is in proper, safe working order
• Create a work environment that is considerate of the customer’s needs
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations and customers

Physical & Working Requirements

• This role involves hands‑on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
• Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
• Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
• Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
• Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
• Safely operating tools and equipment

Our Ideal Candidate

• Expreince working in a field enviroment on compression engines
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, schematics, line diagrams and other related publications.
• Ability to drive and valid license required with ability to obtain CDL

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience with all makes and models of engine rebuilds (CAT and/or Waukesha)
• Stable work history
• Ability to foster positive relationships internally and externally
