Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Engine Control Systems Engineer in Mossville, IL to design, develop, and validate electro-mechanical engine control systems.

You will work within the Large Engine Controls team to optimize performance and emissions using simulation, MiL, and on-engine testing. You will collaborate to refine system requirements, develop control strategies, and document results for stakeholders, leveraging Matlab/Simulink, GT-Power, and CANape.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics Engineering required.
• Experience applying dynamic feedback control to spark-ignited engine control systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex control problems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partners to develop and refine engine control system requirements.
• Design and verify control algorithms via simulation and on-engine testing.
• Develop and maintain Matlab/Simulink and GT-Power MiL frameworks for design verification.
• Analyze data using Matlab, Python, and Vector CANape; present actionable recommendations.
• Document and present results to stakeholders.
