Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Chassis Software Engineer in Dearborn, MI. This hybrid role combines home and worksite duties.

Develop control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink, create verification plans, and validate software via MIL/SIL, collaborating with chassis controls engineers to enable new vehicle experiences. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or CS and 3 years in related fields, plus hands-on testing, CAN tools usage, and configuration/requirements management.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience with Simulink or hand-coded C/C++ in software development.
  • Experience with model-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing.

Responsibilities

What you'll be able to do:

Chassis Software Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the aforementioned worksite. Develop control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink and embedded coder, or by using hand-code. Create requirements and design verification plans for vehicle motion control functions. Perform software functional validation (model-in-the-loop/software-in-the-loop), working closely with chassis controls analytical methods test engineers to prove out functions. Collaborate with feature and system engineers to develop the SW functions to enable new experiences for our customers. Calibrate and test features in prototype vehicles or on hardware-in-the-loop test stands. Domestic Travel Required up to 10%.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilizing Simulink for model-based design or utilizing hand-coded C/C++ to develop software. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:1. Translating higher level system specifications into software implementation requirements. 2. Testing software functionality via model-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop methods. 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Debugging software using Simulink for model-based development or using integrated development environments for hand-code. 2. Using CAN tools for data acquisition and analysis to diagnose software issues. 3. Creating test cases for all levels of the software system to validate units, sub-systems, and systems. 4. Utilizing configuration management tools to manage software versions. 5. Using requirement management tools to organize and structure software and higher level system requirements.

We are offering a salary of$93,642.00 - $190,500.00/yr.
